Dave O'Brien J.D. has been a college sports executive and educator for over 25 years. He served as a Division I athletic director at Long Beach State University, Temple University and Northeastern University for 16 years (1991-2007).
O'Brien is currently the Director of the Sports Management Program at Drexel University where he also teaches at the undergraduate, graduate and law school levels. In addition to his academic position, O'Brien is the managing partner of the O'Brien Sports Group which provides a wide range of consulting services to the college sports industry, including NCAA rules compliance, risk management audits, business support services, executive recruitment, training workshops and more. He is also an editor of College Sports Business News.
O'Brien is active nationally in sports law matters as co-author of a monthly column on college sports law issues published in College Athletics and the Law and as a consultant on sports topics including pay equity, retaliation, harassment, Title IX, and coaching contracts.
Prior to becoming an athletic administrator, O'Brien served in a variety of roles in higher education, which included assistant to the president for legal and legislative affairs at Montclair State University and the assistant vice president for administration and finance at Long Beach State. He also served on the legislative staff of the New Jersey Senate and practiced law in New Jersey.

As a creative director, Rich has over two decades of experience in developing and helping implement strategic programs in branding and marketing communications. He has developed brand identities and helped create and recommend successful brand strategies for international, national, regional and local marketers. He has worked on behalf of clients such as Panasonic, Saab, Exxon, American Express, Ansell, Public Service Enterprise Group, Delta Dental, NJ Travel and Tourism, Coldwell Banker, WebMD, Lonza, The CIT Group and Citibank, as well as many non-profit organizations and sports marketers.
His professional work experience includes conceptualizing and supervising copy, design and production on regional and national print, radio, TV, video, and digital and social media campaigns. A winner of many industry awards, the several he is most proud of include a Direct Marketing Association "International Echo Award", and a "Best in the World" Pro Award from PROMO Magazine. Timothy J. O'Brien, J.D. is a partner with the law firm of Libby O'Brien Kingsley & Champion, LLC, where he focuses his practice in the areas of Sports Law, Labor/Employment Law and Litigation. His expertise in Sports Law includes advising college and university athletic departments across the country on legal issues ranging from Title IX to drug testing. As a trial attorney, Tim has also represented universities on Title IX litigation matters.
For more than 20 years, he has also represented management clients on a wide variety of labor and employment issues including wrongful termination and discrimination claims, wage claims, and class actions.
O'Brien began his career as an attorney serving as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General's Corps (U.S. Army) from 1984-1988 and has been active nationally in sports law matters with the American Bar Association's Sports Law Committee and as co-author of a monthly column on college sports law issues in College Athletics and the Law.
He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the New England School of Law. He currently serves on the boards of directors of the United Way of York County and the Education Foundation of the Kennebunks. Tim is a partner in the O'Brien Sports Group.
