Partnering with an existing energy company, Texas fans will now be able to buy electricity and natural gas in deregulated markets from their favorite team. The Houston Chronicle is reporting that during the discussions about staying in the Big 12, Commissioner Dan Beebe promised Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma that they would get $20 million annually from conference distributions. While Texas and Oklahoma have released the conference from that obligation, Texas A&M's president says the Aggies intend to hold the conference to that promise.
